Hi friends. It’s been quite a week. Lot’s of preparation for the upcoming revival meetings, first stop… Tuscaloosa, then Mobile, Gates (TN), and Meridian (MS). Through all of it, Patty has been diagnosed with EBV (Epstein Barr Virus). It manifests itself in many ways according to the individual but basically it’s Mononucleosis on giant steriods. It’s been suggested, strongly, that she rest for a considerable time as well as take vitamins and immune boosters. At this time, that’s the only treatment.
All this to say that for at least the first two meetings, she will remain at home taking it as easy as possible while I travel. Pray for her recovery and pray for God to provide someone at each meeting that can run my powerpoint presentation each evening and handle that end of the ministry.
First to Valley View Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. I will drive up tomorrow and set up to be ready for Sunday morning. This will be a simultaneous Kids Revival along with the church wide effort. Pray that God will reach hearts and lives through my music and friends as well as the speaking. The plan is that we will begin with all ages and singing along with ventriloquism. Then after about 40 to 45 minutes we will excuse the younger children and I will speak to the older ones eventually drawing them in and giving them an opportunity to receive Christ.
I will give you updates as I go along. Thank you for your prayers for me as well as for Patty.
Blessings,
John
Dear John,
I’m just now having time to catch up with your blog for the last few weeks. I’m concerned about Patty. Is she going to be at home in Enterprise, or with her folks in Yazoo? Please know that you are both in my prayers and in my heart, for your ministry needs and for her complete recovery. I’ve been out of it myself since I returned home from my brother’s illness and death. I managed to spend two weeks in ice, snow and freezing cold with no vocal problems, only to return home, get through the snow here, and now that the weather’s warming, I’m struggling vocally again. God has a great sense of humor, but He’s always faithful to give me the strength I need for each day’s difficulties. Please let me know what I can do to help Patty.
Much love and prayers,
Dena
