Home

August 3rd, 2010

Whew! What a road trip and it’s good to be home. I was very, very far removed from civilization in the camps I just finished and was unable to get any info to you. I appreciate you checking in and I apologize for the delay.

In Soddy Daisy, TN, we saw 3 kids come to Christ there and several other recommitments. We finished on Thursday night with family night and had a great crowd. The kids did a presentation, the camp director shared and then I used one of my “friends” to wrap things up. A great night.
Following that night I loaded up and drove to Cleveland, TN, to spend the night before heading out to Horns Creek Resort in Ocoee, TN, for a preteen camp combining FBC Roanoke, VA, and Whitesburg Baptist out of Huntsville, AL. God really moved and many came to know Him as Lord and Savior. We went Friday through Monday and I got home this afternoon.
Thank you for your prayers as I continue the work and begin prep work for the upcoming revival meeting in Brantley, AL.
Blessings,
john

Safe travel to Cleveland, TN.

July 29th, 2010

It was a good closing night at the camp. Parents came and with the kids the number came to almost 80 people. The kids sang, there was a powerpoint photo show, an exhibition by the girls in the Interpretive Worship track time (using dowel rods they worked a routine with Arise My Love) then I closed things with The Professor.
Following my loading the equipment, I headed to Cleveland, TN, where I will begin another camp tomorrow night and go through Monday night. Lord willing I will be heading home Tuesday morning.
Pray that God will give me the rest I need to do the work and pray that the kids of FBC Roanoke, VA, and Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL, will receive and respond to what’s said and sung.

Blessings,
John

Wednesday Night, TN

July 28th, 2010

It was a great night as we saw 3 children come to Christ. Several other decisions are being followed up but thank you for your prayers as we continue the work.
Tomorrow is a big day that ends with Parents night and the kids show some of the things that have been going on this week. Following my loading equipment, I will head to a hotel in Cleveland, TN, where I’ll spend the night then head on to my next camp outside of Cleveland.

Appreciate the prayers,
John

Dogwood Lodge, TN

July 27th, 2010

It’s a good camp here at Dogwood Lodge, Soddy Daisy, TN. We have 26 preteens and things are going well. Everything is gearing for the invitation service tomorrow night so pray that God will work in the hearts and minds of these kids.

I’ve been blessed to reach you. A counselor has brought in a portable “hot spot” for internet so this is a bonus. Please pray as I plant the seed that God will take it, water, and bring it to harvest.

Patty is hoping to head home Thursday but not certain. Pray for the health and mental awareness of parents that she will feel the freedom to head home. Having been gone such a lengthy time has been quite “stretching”.

Blessings,
John

Arrived in Hixson, TN

July 25th, 2010

After a fairly restless night with Patty and her folks, I took off for Hixson, TN, a little north of Chattanooga. I arrived around 6 p.m. so it was a kinda long day.
I’ll head out to the camp in the morning to move in and set up my stuff for the week.
Pray for God to provide someone to run my powerpoint so I don’t need to and for God to work in and through me and move in the hearts of the kids.
I’m not sure I will be able to be in touch until Thursday night. The camp is really rural.
Blessings,
John

Family Night, Tyler

July 23rd, 2010

Well, first I have to tell you I was notified that one child came to Christ yesterday and told her parent last night after getting home. Praise the Lord.
It was a fun night, a little down for the number of kids we had been with all week but a really good group of parents and grand parents. I used a couple of my friends then the kids sang. They did a super job. Afterwards we all headed out where there were a lot of activities and food.
Tomorrow I’ll head to Yazoo City to spend the night before going on to Chattanooga, TN, for a couple of kids camps. Pray for travel, rest, and strength.
Blessings,
John

4th Night, Tyler

July 22nd, 2010

It was a “seed planting” night as I shared the gospel with about 28 kids. We didn’t have any decisions but they were attentive and we trust the Lord when He says; “My Word shall not return void”.
Thank you for your continued prayers. The day tomorrow is a big one…Family Night. There are a number of children attending who’s family do not have a church home so it’s a wonderful opportunity to reach them.
Pray that I can be effective in our presentation tomorrow night as well as the children as they sing the songs they’ve learned.
Blessings,
John

Night 3, Tyler

July 21st, 2010

Another good night with pretty good numbers. 40 kids showed tonight and as active and “jazzed” as could be. We elected to do the decision service tomorrow night so pray that everything is as clear as possible.

My days have been spent working toward the camps I have coming up. Thank you for your prayers. My voice is doing well and strength is fine.
Blessings,
John

Day 2, Tyler

July 20th, 2010

Another good night. 36 kids tonight. 2 new children joined us tonight. The director was not concerned at all about the 8 less children knowing that they basically represented 2 large families.
Thank you for your continued prayers as I prepare each evening and during the day I am preparing for 2 upcoming kids camps so lots going on.
Patty is holding up pretty well handling parents and helping them as her dad continues in the hospital. We would appreciate your prayers there as well. Pray for his kidneys to come around. Right now, that’s the thing keeping him there and not home, kidney function.

Blessings,
John

Night 1, Tyler

July 20th, 2010

What a great night. This little church has worked so hard to reach out to the community. There has been a little growth but primarily middle aged and older adults, meaning NO children.
This past week about 30 people went through the neighborhoods placing a little hand-bill on doors advertising the VBS. Everything was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and at quarter til we had 3 kids. We were praying and children began showing up. We actually were delayed in beginning, wanting each child to get the full measure of the opening with me and my friends. By 6:15 we had 42 and finished with 44 for the night. The workers of the church were so excited and blessed.
The kids really seemed to have a good time and we look forward to what lies ahead. Keep praying. You know, in kids work, if they don’t show up it’s generally not their fault so pray for the parents and for their heart’s desire to get these kids in church….even if it’s just to have a night out with their spouse.

Blessings,
John
